Additional Degrees

Residents working in a university-based program can benefit from the breadth of courses and offerings available to them. Residents who wish to pursue an additional degree during training may select from:

Global Health (Certificate)

A certificate of competency in global health is achieved through acceptance and completion of the Global Health Track. Brochure, Flyer, Residency in Global Health Website

MPH (Masters in Public Health)

Approved by RRC-FP; MPH program is newly accredited. Residents begin coursework in second year. Requires application to MPH/IUPUI and approval of program director. Courses taken in evening Requires fourth year (fellowship possible). Tuition benefits pay partial expenses. Graduate Certificate in Public Health and MPH website

MHA (Masters in Health Administration)

Residents begin coursework in second year. Requires application to MHA and IUPUI, approval of program director. Courses taken in evening (compressed schedule possible). Requires fourth year (fellowship possible). Tuition benefits pay partial expenses. MHA website

MD/MBA (Masters of Business Administration)

The IU School of Medicine and IU Kelley School of Business have partnered to develop an MD/MBA combined degree program. It is designed for highly qualified students who desire to complement standard medical training with a greater understanding of economics, finance, marketing and management of the health care system. Medical Humanities Program (Certificate)

Offers coursework designed to explore the concepts of health and illness from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective. Courses and seminars vary. Requires application and approval from program director. Medical Humanities website and MHHS Graduate Certificate

Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship

Application by fall of third year of residency. Applications will only be accepted electronically through ERAS.  Training occurs at multiple IU Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine clinics and fellows will provide coverage to IUPUI Athletics Teams.  Fourth year (PGY4) position; house officer benefits and salary. 12 month program. Qualifies trainee to sit for CAQ examination. Sports Medicine Fellowship website
